I OWN A 2006 FORD 4X4 RANGER. AUTO TRANSMISSION W/4.0 V6
WHEN THE 4X4 IS ON, AFTER A WHILE WHETHER IN 4X4 HIGH OR LOW; THE 4X4 APPEARS TO DISENGAGE, EMITTING FROM THE FLOOR BOARD, AN AUDIBLE “THUMP SOUND”. AFTER STOPPING (OR GETTING STUCK) THE 4X4 REENGAGES. THIS IS CONSISTANT WHENEVER I USE 4WD, EVERY TIME…THE 4X4 ENGagenebt motor has been replaced. this did not correct the problem. The front differential, and the transfer case have been dismantled…no problem has been found there. The 4x4 has been engaged and removed from all electronic connections, still have the same problem. Many long experianced techs have not been able to diagnose or correct the problem…Can you guys help me?
