Compressor clutch not engaging — Ricks Free Auto Repair Advice Ricks Free Auto Repair Advice | Automotive Repair Tips and How-To

There is a low refridgerant pressure switch, and a high refridgerant pressure switch. Either can cut the power to the clutch. You will have to check the pressure in the system to know for sure.
The electrical part in the clutch could be bad. You could run jumper wires to the clutch connector to see if it will engage. If not, its the clutch. If it does engage, then more than likely your just low on refridgerant, and possibly have a tiny leak.

Check the refrigerant charge of the system.

If it’s low, the low pressure switch in the system will prevent the clutch from engaging.
