what causing forester to idle very high
as though i am pressing the gaspedal
What is your car, year, mileage, engine, transmission and is the check engine light on?
The header says Ford but Forester is a Subaru model . What is the RPM number in neutral ?

Either the car is a 2004 Ford Freestar or a Subaru Forester
It can’t be both
If it’s a Freestar, the symptoms seem to point at a faulty iac valve, which the vehicle definitely has
If it’s a Subaru, who knows, because you didn’t even list a model year
Could be a vacuum leak in either a Forester or a Freestar.
