2003 Toyota Sienna

The O2 sensor became dislodged from the exhaust system. The sensor was spot welded.

The check engine light came on. We took the van to a Toyota Dealership and the code was P0420 - needs convertor and 02 sensor. We did not do the repair at that time. The dealership reset the check engine light.

We have driven the van 1,000 miles since this was diagnosed. Should we still be concerned that there is a problem or could this be a false reading? We have not seen any impact on our gas mileage.

Why was it spot welded instead of being fixed properly? I would be concerned more about an exhaust leak than anything else.

These are very rarely false readings. Let us know when the “check engine” light comes back on.
