2003 Honda CRV with 200k miles worth it?

The kicker is the engine and transmission are brand new

How is it financially worth it to invest in a new engine and transmission in a 10-yr old “economy” car?

I would be very careful of these claims. Even worse is if they say it’s a “rebuilt” engine. The number of mechanics who know how to properly rebuild an engine these days is dwindling.

If the Op hasn’t already check cars.com or Auto tempest (can search craigslist,ebay,auto trader, cars.com) . There are ones with 150,000 miles or so sprinkled around the country for the budget. Might be something else out there without so many questions.

@asemaster
I am completely with asemaster. Both our kids bought Accords at 100k. They were exceptionally reliable but, by the time they reached 200 to 225k, their motors and transmissions were still fine but both had problems with items that forced them to dump thier cars. AC and power windows become quite relevant under certain conditions and replacing exhaust systems, cats and suspension components become much more frequent. 100k is a good price point and nothing higher for even a good car like a Honda. If all you have is $6500, don’t get Awd. Get a used Civic or Corolla with about 80k or less. You will have many more years of reliable driving for less money.
