2002 Toyota Camry - Can I wash Engine cover with water and soap after applying decreaser before replacing Valve Gasket
Do you have to remove the cover to do the repair? It’s safer to clean the cover when it’s off.

This is the part i’m referring, worried about rust and other complications, wash it with soap and dry it before fixing it back, first time doing so bit worried don’t want to mess up.
It’s aluminum alloy. It won’t rust. Cleaning optional as it looks OK inside - no goop or hunks of stuff.

Most important not to over-torque the bolts.
Thank you very much… for your help… there were some deposits… like sand , i clean it with tooth brush and want to wash the dust out of it
