funny rattle coming from exhaust or under the car somwhere around 3000 rpm
Likely a loose heat shield. Easy to find on a hoist and cheap to repair at any muffler shop.

I concur. All my Subarus except the one I have now developed the signature heat shield rattle. One dealer used to put drywall screws between the shield and its shielded part. To sort of keep the parts from rattling. I stopped going there.
Why? They actually solved your issue

Haha. Good point. Yes, but I had to go back when the screws would fall out. Which would have been fine, but I worried they would end up in a rear tire.
Why didn’t you just go to a muffler shop first ?
They were still under warranty.
