car starts and runs fine has nice heat from heater temp gauge runs normal but last time drove did have smoke under hood and coolant low when checked also white smoke from exhaust car starts and sounds good idleing
If that was my vehicle, I would explore the possibility that it has a breached head gasket.

smoke is something burning. not good in a car. steam vapor is different. you see vapor? and cannot see where it is coming from? if you told a tech there was steam coming from motor he might even look.
