2002 Hyundai XG350 Backfires upon startup? What is causing this and is it safe to drive?

Maintenance history?
Bought the car used at 33k miles; has 99K miles now. Nothing major has been done, brakes, tune ups, regular oil changes, fix a transmission leak,that’s it. Some one told me to run premium gas to see if that clears the backfiring.
