I have a 2000 Ford Focus, automatic, 4-cy.
The other day, after sitting at a stop light, it just wouldn’t accelerate. I kind of had to play with my gas pedal, which was all the way to the floor- when I let my foot up a little, it started to accelerate again. The check engine light was not on, and I didn’t notice any weird sounds or anything else.
My fiancee’ changed the spark plugs and wires today, thinking that could be a possibility, but it didn’t fix the problem.
What else could it be?? I’m sort of terrified to go a mechanic as it can be really expensive, and I am a poor student.
Thanks in advance for your help!
It turns out it was the timing belt.
