Runs good in idle, give it gas and it sounds like out of time chain rattle knock.
Remove the distributor cap.
Take a breaker bar and a socket and rotate the engine by hand in the normal direction.
Now rotate the engine slowly in the opposite direction while watching the rotor in the distributor.
If the engine can be rotated 5 degrees or more before the rotor starts to move, it indicates a stretched timing chain.
