I have a 97 Pontiac Sunfire, 4dr, has about 135K miles. Air worked up until last fall but one day just stopped. I can see that the light on the temp control lights up, I’ve changed the relay, but nothing. The compressor does not engage when the air is turned on. Seems to be electrial but I’m no mechanic… Any Help would be appreciated…
If the system is low on refrigerant, there’s a pressure switch that prevents the compressor from operating. You need to connect a set of manifold gauges to the system to determine the state of charge, so you don’t end up replacing parts for no reason.
