1994 Toyota Pickup

So I have a Toyota pickup with high mileage. While driving it on the freeway, one of my spark plugs blew out. This is after they were recently changed for the same reason.

My mechanic went under the truck and said that the catalytic converter is what is causing this. He didn’t use any tools to come up with this conclusion.

Is it possible that a bad cat can cause this?

I’d enjoy hearing the logic that blames a faulty catalytic converter for a spark plug blowing out.

The most likely cause was over tightening the plugs and stripping the threads. Inserts will be needed to keep them in now.

Yep, I think your first problem is a faulty mechanic.
