My car also has issues with staying started. it will start but wants to die, not smooth i have to keep hitting the gas as soon as it wants to quit, once i can get it out of this after about five minutes it runs smooth. Everytime i want to take this car it happens. could it be the fuel filter?
The problem might be with a dirty/faulty Idle Air Control valve.

The IAC valve is what controls the engines idle speed whenever the accelerator isn’t depressed.
This problem could happen on a cold start, sitting at a stop sign, etc…
One way to determine if the problem is with the IAC valve is, you can prevent the engine from stalling if you step on the gas pedal.
