I have a 94 4Runner with a 3.0 engine and a automatic transmission. The transmission does not want to shift through the gears. If I move the shifter through the gears and back to drive before I start off there is no problem.
Does this only occur after the vehicle sits for a while or does it happen every time you start up?? Does it do it more in colder weather?? It almost sounds like a converter drainback problem.

I just bought it from my sister, so I don’t know about the cold weather. It seems to be every time is is started. I’ve been able to figure out that I don’t need to shift through the gears(at least not every time) once the truck is well warmed up.
