I have a 93 mazda B2600i. It start to run rough and run very rich… when I go to start it dies after a couple seconds. On the second attempt it will stay running… where do I start??
Start with the check engine light. Is it on? Can you pull the error codes from this (google how, this is an OBD 1 vehicle)
Check for worn timing chain(s).

To do this, remove the distributor cap.
Take a socket/ breaker bar and get on the crankshaft bolt.
Turn the engine by hand in the normal direction while watching the rotor in the distributor.
Now turn the engine by hand in the opposite direction while watching the rotor in the distributor.
If the engine can be turned in the opposite direction more than 5 degrees before the rotor in the distributor begins to rotate, it indicates the timing chain(s) are stretched and require replacement.
