is it advisable or safe to mix conventional brake fluid with synthetic brake fluid?
In your manual it should list what kind of brake fluid to use and that is all that I would use. Mixing the two just does not seem the right thing to do . And probably this vehicle is due for a fluid exchange and if it leaking fluid then that needs to be taken care of.
Yes, you can mix synthetic with conventional. You should not use DOT 5 fluid at all. You can use DOT 3, 4 or 5.1 synthetic or conventional.
Mustangman,
Thank you very much for your advice.
I’m currently working on a 1962 Falcon and the only type of brake fluid on the shelf is synthetic, hence my question.
Have a good day.
Jim
Ok or not, I’d replace it 100%. Why not?
People have been replying to your question as if you had a 1991 Tempo . So a 1962 Falcon never had synthetic brake fluid . So you need to find out just what you need and replace all of the fluid .
And what shelf only has synthetic on it ?
