1989 Gmc 1500 stalls out in idle at the light.I was goin to order a new distributer rotor button and cap but before I do the thought crossed my mind in this old of a truck the check engine light came on yesterday do you think it could be the pick up coil instead would it be worth the shot before replacing the whole thing? I put a new engine in it just 2 years ago great running 350 until recent.
Reea the codes for the check engine light to find out what the truck thinks is the problem. A paperclip is all you need to do that.
I’d suspect the idle air control valve for stalls at idle before any ignition issue. If the pick up coil failed the engine would stall and not restart.
