The first time I changed the oil filter on my 06 Tacoma I broke the shielf surrounding the filter because it was installed too tight at the factory. This was last July and thus far no leaks which was confirmed by the dealer. Should I have this part replaced at a cost of $200+ and will there be any long term harmful affects if I do not. Appreciate any help.

If it hasn’t leaked in nearly a year I don’t think you have too much to worry about.
