'05 Suburban pinion seal replacement

I’ve read that I can change this and replace the nut (with marks) with 1/8 turn past original location. Is this advisable or should the rearend be disassembled and rebuilt with a new crush sleeve? Thanks all.

You can change the pinion seal if you have a torque indicating torque wrench. This type of torque wrench has two needles in the dial so that when the max torque is reached to loosen the pinion nut one of the needles remains at that reading. Then after the seal is replaced you tighten the pinion nut 2-3 ft/lbs over that reading. This still keeps the crush sleeve within specs.

Sounds like a plan, I really appreciate the info-Steve
