Ive seen many instances of dogs (and cats) peeing on vehicle tires. I guess its a territory marking behaviour, but why the tires? Do they have an attractive scent? Any way to prevent this (besides a pellet gun)?

Dogs save it up and pee on everything they can, a little at a time. So tires are just one more thing. I don’t have a dog but I’ve walked my sister’s dog on visits. The peeing I get. I don’t get what’s up with the poop. The little monster seems to only get the urge to take a crap while on the nice…

You also have to ask why do birds poop on your car???

I hope nobody takes a pellet gun to YOU next time you have to pee…

I’d like to join you in stating that anybody who actually does use a pellet gun on an animal that is not posing a threat to them or others is a cruel individual and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. A squirt gun might work and poses no danger to the animal. But …

Very true. This is why I was hoping for a suggestion that does NOT involve the pellet gun. A little tire pee is an annoyance, not a tragedy. I was just wondering why they seem to target the tires and not the rest of the car. Maybe it is the “Made in Japan” printing. This calls for more research.

You could buy a set of wheel maskers (body shops use them to keep paint off tires) to cover them while parked at home. Don’t do much for looks but they would be effective.

Everytime my dog tries to plant land mines I pull open a man hole cover just before he lands it and dangle him by the leash so I don’t have to carry hand fulls of steamers around with me. If the dog slips throught the leash then I get a new dog. I’ve gone through 7 dogs in 5 years. ( I have not owned a dog in 35 years).
