Car takes long time to get up to speed

edited November -1 in Repair and Maintenance
From stop. When I accelerate it takes a long time to get to drive. It feels like a lag time. What is wrong with my car?

Any one of about 100 things.

You need to say A LOT more about the car including its year & mileage. You need to tall people about its maintenance - not oil changes, but all that other stuff like spark plugs & wires & filters etc.

And you need to describe exactly what is happening when you try to get going. Walk people through it - sights, sounds, feels, smells?

    What year,
    what mileage,
    what type of transmission?

"Car takes long time to get up to speed...from stop"

"When I accelerate it takes a long time to get to drive"

Depending on what you are trying to tell us, there is a difference between these two scenarios. Are you telling us that the car simply accelerates slowly, or are you telling us that the transmission does not engage right away when you attempt to accelerate? There is a significant difference between those two problems.

As a result, I am not sure about what you are trying to communicate to us.

Can you clarify the issue for us?
Also, if--as I suspect--English is not your primary language, can you have a friend or relative post the information for you?
