Db4690, you nailed it… twas indeed the coolant temperature sensor that was causing the problem with my 1985 Mercedes. My boyfriend disconnected it and it’s been running fine ever since. Got the new on ordered and should be here by the weekend. Thank you for your time and, with all the different things it could have been, how’d you know to that?
