Transmission support replacement for 96 model Toyota Hi Lux 4x4

The transmission support of this model is underneath the transmission and sits on top of a cross-member that can be unbolted from the chassis.

To make it easy to replace it, I first placed a jack beneath the transmission and raised its saddle to meet the transmission case (use a block of wood so there's something softer between the aluminum trans housing and the metal jack saddle). Then, when you unbolt the cross member and the trans support, the relative position of the transmission will not change and there will be no strain on the driveshaft as the weight of the transmission is carried by the jack. It's a snap to bolt back the new support and the cross member: no realigning of any of the affected parts!

This can apply to any RWD/4WD vehicle that has a similar layout.
