Why highway driving is less stressful on the car then stop and go city driving

In general, cars are built to run, warmed up and cruising. With most cars, the first few minutes and last few minutes are where much of the wear happens. The cars that really scare me from a wear standpoint is cars that don’t get run much–they corrode faster, gas rots, oil sludges and runs off of the surfaces that it’s supposed to lubricate, and rubber bits go bad. Of course, the postwar Brit and European little cars are more low-speed cruisers, but still need to be driven.)

@littlebean What is your cruising speed on the highway? Thanks!
