White bikers on loud harleys now make more noise than boom boom cars that rattle car parts

True…but not at the 95db level (or higher) many of these bikes are today.

Correct
I can’t even hear the noise-making device when I am driving, but one of my neighbors was standing on his lawn when I drove past, and he thought that he was hearing the noise from worn-out brake pads. He was fascinated to learn what he was really hearing. Since he is planning on ordering an E-vette, he will have a similar device on his next car.

Cars are so well insulated drivers can’t hear sirens right behind them with the windows up let alone a loud HD coming at them. Loud pipes will not save the rider. Anticipation and observation by the rider keeps them alive.

Only one of my bikes had a modified exhaust. Not open pipes but a bit louder modified by the previous owner. My last bike had stock exhaust. I did sometimes listen to music on the bluetooth headset in my full face helmet. Earplugs are illegal, speakers in the helmet are not.

What cars are these? Not in any vehicle I’ve been in. This includes the high-end Bently of the owner of my company.

Both my Mustang and especially my Audi mask sirens until close and further disguise the direction of the emergency vehicles. We use AC 12 months a year so windows are always closed.

I have watched emergency vehicles pull right up behind cars in traffic with no reaction from the drivers. Maybe they never look in the mirror, maybe they can’t hear, likely both.

Today, I was driving down a 4-lane divided highway. I was in the left lane and a Big, Harley Touring Bike (I know the look of the big Cowling on the front end) was in the right lane, behindme… The bike was not in my blind spot, just far enough back that if it had been in my lane, it would have been tail-gaiting…

In the immortal words of Sergeant Schultz (Hogan’s Heroes–mid '60s TV Show…), “I hear nothing…” that is until we hit a stop light and WOW, was it loud, Pipes and Stereo…

He pulled away from the light faster than I did and I could now hear him even as he was 100 plus feet ahead of me, but I heard nothing when he was behind me…

Yeah, I know the speakers were probably facing towards the back, towards him and the pipes were all facing back, so the sound/noise was all oriented away from me when he was behind me. So, any thought of the sound/noise being some sort of “early warning” alert is all boulder dash…

I can hear motorcycles approaching from the rear when they weave through traffic, the sound reflects off of the other vehicles.

Trouble uploading mp4, sorry.

Oh, how deliciously sinful. This posting is the 69th one… My little brother (married more than 25-years, with two beautiful daughters, both married, with 5-kids between them), has “69” in his email address and it is as salacious as the number alludes to… There is no accounting for class…

Back on topic, a BMW Owner is being sued for a Loud Exhaust that is “Disrupting The Neighborhood”

I am anxious to see how this plays out…

You can sue anyone for anything. All the lawyer wants is payment in advance. Not likely to prevail but on the other hand it’s California. Same place you can’t run a lawn mower or wash your car.
