If you lease, you are most likely responsible for maintenance and repairs. It the vehicle shows excess wear and tear, the lessor will assess fees to cover the damage. I think most people that lease are smart enough to recognize that. If not, and they return a thrashed car, they will find our fast. I also think that most dealers will auction those cars rather than sell them on their lot. They get enough flak without looking for it.
