We have come full circle on fuel pumps

Are you to young to have owned a 1972 to 1980 car? Perhaps you are to old tro remember your car stalling?

I have owned vehicles with model years 1949-1984 that had carburetors. I have had carburetor problems that required carburetor replacement or overhaul kits, but never had one stall due to subzero temperatures.

If I ever get to own the cars on my dream sheet, carburetors will be replaced with FI, points will be eliminated (did have a stalling problem with a dual point distributor, one set of points was shorting out), and if possible solid lifters will be replaced with hydraulic, roller if available.

You’re lucky. My 84 S-15 was known for that due to icing. GM had at least 6 different Carb designs to address the problem. My Isuzu pickup had the same problem, but not as bad as my GMC S-15.

It was not extreme cold weather, it was usually temps 32-45 degrees, possibly because of the extreme salt that rotted out choke stoves, iced up carbs, froze heat risers etc.
