My water temp will rise to the red-line after 5-10minutes of driving and stay there for 7-15 seconds and then level off. Is it possible that the coolant is low? I just had it serviced for oil change and valve cover work.

A sticking thermostat will cause that. You might try replacing the thermostat to see if the coolant temp becomes more stable.

Are the cooling fans working?

“is it possible the coolant is low?” . . . are you serious?

We can’t tell you from cyberspace if your coolant level is low.

Make sure the engine is cold.

Open the hood.

Check the coolant level in the recovery bottle

Check the level in the radiator
