Vehicle calculated fuel milage

When a friend bought his hybrid, one of the criteria was that he could do the round trip commute only on battery power.

I would get my car about 10MPH over the speed limit, back off the gas, then hit the MPG reset, got an outstanding reading for about ten minutes.

I still note it in a flip pad. It’s not that I don’t trust the computer; I note if the mileage drops over time then something is out of tune, worn, dirty, etc., and I need to investigate.

I keep my mpg history in a spread sheet. It’s good for older folks like me to use technology, in order to keep us up-to-date.

Your computer will show any major declines in mileage just the same. May be off a Mile or two from paper calculations but the results are the same.

Years ago I taught the feather foot driving course to get the most mileage. Back before most cars had computer calculations. We provided the forms to keep track of mileage. The forms were a hit but now made redundant by computers.
