This is what I was looking for. I have a set of feeler gauges and I have checked clearances before. I replaced the front plugs last year and I have to replace the back ones this year. I have to take off the plenum/intake to do it… So, that would be a good time to pull the valve cover and give it a check.

Is this a joke? You replaced half the plugs? And a 15 year old Sable isn’t even worth the time and effort.

Although I don’t think it is valve noise you are hearing, but here is a video showing what your tappets look like anyway… Have fun…

How have you pinpointed the source of the noise? Had a tensionor bearing fail, first thought valves making the noise, was cheap easy fix for me.
