As I recall the 1968 was 6 volt. Has anyone over the years done any modifications or “upgrades” do the electrical system.

Does the new switch appear physically similar to the old one? I had an employee who had a 1968 and it was a lot different than my 1970. I helped her keep it running for a while, but I transferred to a different location.

My 1967 Bug had a 12V system. “cant get it to wire an work i need help” Could you rephrase this please, I have no idea what you’re asking?

The book, “How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive” by John Muir was very helpful when I had mine.

> First published in 1969, this classic manual of automotive repair equips VW owners with the knowledge to handle every situation they will come across with any air-cooled Volkswagen built through 1978, ...

Have you checked the flasher unit. It’s a black plastic box about 2" tall.

I THINK '67 was the first year for 12 volts. My BIL had a '66 when he was chasing my sister. I’m pretty sure it was a 6 volt. Wow, they’ve been married a long time.

I have no idea what the OP’s answer might be. Sorry, I never had to replace one.
