Please turn off the newsletter nag popups! It pops up after every screen reload even though I’m already logged in. Are you trying to drive people away from your site? (pun intended.)

Clearing all cartalk cookies made no difference. Happens whether I’m logged in or not.

Seems to be browser specific. Doesn’t seem to happen (as often) with Google Chrome browser.

I’m using the latest version of Firefox 59.0.1.

I’ve gotten the popup on Internet Explorer too. It happens within a few seconds of a page refresh. Really annoying!

Just to be sure it wasn’t a FF add-on, I restarted FF in “Safe Mode”. Still get the popups after refreshing the page. [Cartalk.com](http://Cartalk.com) seems to be broken in Firefox. This is just the latest example.

Here’s a screenshot from Firefox 59:

Thank you, @hybrid314. Huh. I haven’t gotten this. I generally use mobile but I do check from desktop. Does anyone else see this so intrusively?

I have the same version of Firefox with no pop-ups, I do have Ad Blocker Plus installed on Firefox which might make the difference.

More info on the nag popup bug:

- I’ve gotten it to happen every time on FF, Chrome and IE by clearing all cookies then refreshing the page.
- It appears to be using a cookie to keep track of when to popup again.
- On FF 59, that seems to be broken, so it keeps popping up with every page load.
- About 3 seconds before popping up the page is unresponsive. All links and buttons are inactive.
- Only seems to happen on [www.cartalk.com](http://www.cartalk.com), not [community.cartalk.com](http://community.cartalk.com)
- I’m running FF 59 on Windows 10.

The site seems to have the most problems with FF. Right after logging in with FF I get this error:

OK, here’s the error that’s causing this bug. It’s an infinite recursion loop in the **nmedianet.js** code.

It’s happening on all browsers, but FF handles it the worst. Send this to your web developer(s):

Firefox JS console (clean profile no add-ons):

I complained about this weeks ago.

> [@There's a seconds-long delay before I can log in](https://community.cartalk.com/t/theres-a-seconds-long-delay-before-i-can-log-in/113041):
>
> Beginning recently when I’ve tried to log in I’ve had to wait a few seconds until a dialogue box pops up that asks me to subscribe to the site’s ‘lousy’ (its word) newsletter, promising to keep me uninformed. Since this happens even before I log in it can’t know whether I have subscribed. This happens on my computer and the ones at UNM, so it isn’t just my computer or connection (UNM has a very fast connection.) Just thought I’d let you know.

Same thing is happening to me, Safari, and it’s bad enough that I now stay away from [cartalk.com](http://cartalk.com). this site is fine.

To elaborate, this popup: It appears on **every page** , and the page is dead (no links work) during the 3-5 seconds it takes for the popup to appear and be dismissed.

> I don’t see it using Safari on iPad.

I tested it on the iPad mini 4. After clearing all history, it pops up with every page refresh on Safari!

Clear your history and try again.

Also happens on Macbook Pro Safari. In other words every browser I’ve tested it on. Deleting all cookies seems to be the key to reproducing it consistently.

I mean refreshing the page using the browser’s reload button: ![image](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/cartalk/original/2X/b/be19d953cce19dcac1b396c1b873f2e523548c9d.png)

It also pops up when navigating to any page on [cartalk.com](http://cartalk.com).

There is a 10 second delay before it pops up so be patient.
