Hello Car Talkers, I have a A/T 1999 New Beetle with 160K miles. Recently, I have had a transmission problem: when cool, the car would not shift or stay in gear. I had the transmission serviced-- my mechanic replaced the gasket and fluid. The car shifts almost perfectly now when cool, but the transmission fluid still leaks a bit. What may be the problem? Thanks! ---

Now the undercarriage is dry and there is no fluid on the ground! Car seems to be shifting ok still, too. I went on a vacation a week after the fix until a couple of days ago. Until that time, there was a leak. Even more puzzled.
