Reverse is jolting! What is the cause and the solution?

The automatic transmission in a 1988 560SL.

Start by checking the fluid level. Be sure you follow the recommended procedure. If the level is low be sure to add the correct fluid. Report back.

Have your U-joints and half-shafts (driveline) checked for worn parts …Is the idle speed set correctly?

Check the vacuum modulator on the side of the transmission. Is the vacuum line missing?? Is the modulator getting engine vacuum?? Is there ATF dripping out of the vacuum line when you remove it from the modulator?? Last but not least, when you are down there, what color is the modulator?? Red, Green, Brown, or Black??
