That would have me saying thanks for the test drive and then go look for something that would not have me on the web asking for help.
Good to hear but I’d still have the car inspected. We had the charging system output tested having basically a ppi done on our own car. Would confirm the rest of the car is good enough for your version of an mot.
While driving? The check engine light should illuminate with the ignition on/engine off but should not be on when the engine is running or while driving.
255 is generally the count limit, faults may have been cleared more than 1000 starts ago but the count will only show 255.
Fault P1604, is often discovered when performing a module scan on vehicles that have no symptoms.
Below is an example of P1604.
The check engine light was on for an evaporative emission leak, P1604 is old history and not relevant to the customer’s immediate concern.
Thanks.
As a software developer, I was a bit suspicious about it being exactly 255 (the maximum value that can be held in 1 byte of memory - 2^8-1), but then I thought it went to 256 on a graph shown by my Android OBD 2 reader app (it can only show history as line graphs), but I read it wrongly. It is 255.
Also, the voltage at the OBD 2 port with the engine on (which I assume is basically the voltage output of the alternator) was 13.7 V (with a slight drop on using electrics such as electric windows).
