I have recently had problems starting my car and my mechanic told me I needed a new EGR and a VSV. I would like to get this problem resolved without paying an arm and a leg. The only problem is, I have no idea how to do anything with the car. Is there any way that I could do this myself without causing a major explosion, etc. Please help me! Thank you.

Describe the problem you are having with starting the car, and any other problems. Also, tell us if it is a 4 cylinder, or a 6 cylinder, and the year.
If there are any trouble codes when the car is scanned for a check engine light, get us those. If you need the check engine light scanned, many auto parts stores will do that for free. Bring any codes here.
