Went out to get started on Christmas shopping this morning and my key will not turn in the ignition switch or key tumbler (?)(correct part?) - toyota 4 runner 1998…any tricks for getting it to turn just one more time so that I can eliminate the need for a tow truck? I have tried 2 or 3 duplicate keys.

Try Wiggling The Steering Wheel Back And Forth While You Turn The Key,

if you haven’t done so, already.

Sometimes the steering lock gets parked under pressure and binds when you shut the vehicle off and remove the key (on some vehicles).

Make sure it’s in “park” all the way and try stepping on the brakes.
