Your car is required by Federal law to be equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system.

Your car is required by Federal law to be equipped with a catalytic converter.

You may not find either system to be worth your time or dollars, but they are both there because someone somewhere decided that they benefits outweigh the costs.

Lobbyist and Politicians continuing to controlling my life.  
Like I really needed more of that. 🙂
