Is it better to have the tire pressure below or above the recommended amount during cold weather? We get lots of rain and some snow during the winter months here. I was in a rush when filling it up with air this morning and went over the 36psi recommendation to 37 & 38, hoping it won’t matter. Thanks.

Nothing to worry about here . Your gauge could be off by a pound or 2 . The real important factor is tire condition and tread measurment .

I put 2 over in to slightly improve mpgs so you’re fine in my opinion.

A bit high is better than a bit low in any weather.

Tires can lose 1-2 PSI for every 10 degree drop in temperature.

So, slightly over the recommended pressure is best.

And make sure you’re using the recommended pressures from the label on the door jamb, not the maximum pressure figure that is on the tire itself.

Also, measure it before driving that day, with a quality gauge.
