Hello - I have a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, ~136k miles. Runs great, and most important paid off ! Took it in for a look-see to replace muffler; and they told me there is a coolant leak in the timing cover gasket. Repair is $480. Reasonable??

I think the problem is the water pump that is leaking. I can’t tell you about prices, but who was it that looked at the car, a muffler shop? If so, take it to a mechanic you can trust. Most muffler shops just know about mufflers.

I really can’t talk about price, but where I am at $480 for juat a gasket job is kind of steep. I am not on the continental USA. $480 with a water pump, just might be good.
