While discussing, with a buddy, maintenance things that I have done to this car (66k, garage kept) he asked when the timing belt was due to be changed. I had thought it was at 90k, but it got me thinking. So today I pull out the owner’s manual w/scheduled maintenance items in it—and nowhere can I find a mention of a timing belt. There is something called a Super HICAS–of which I have no clue what that is. Anyhow, I have been searching web-wise for an hour but to no avail, so I turn here. Does a 1994 Nissan 240 have a timing belt and when should it be changed? if it doesn’t have a timing belt, WHAT does it have and when does it need inspected/changed?
Thank you
A Super HICAS is an active rear suspension system that basically used electric rear actuators to actively “steer” the rear wheels.
Your 240 has a timing chain rather than a belt. It should last the life of the engine.
Happy motoring.
Like other companies, sales reps push for incorporating ‘something new’ into their new products, lackadaisical R&D team reluctantly agree to do that and make copy products without infringing original patents.
HICAS might be able to assist you if you have difficulty doing parallel parking or similar maneuvers. Other than that, might just be a stuff that can induce dozens of issues.
Thank you for the answers. I appreciate it.
