I stand corrected. I thought they’d discontinued selling here.
Don’t feel too bad about that mistake. In The US, Mitsubishi currently has one foot in the grave, and the other one on a banana peel. They are down to only 2 or 3 models in The US, none of those models are competitive with the offerings of other car companies, and as a result their sales figures are…dismal. And, a great many of their dealerships have either closed or converted to selling other brands.
I had this exact same sound today. I had my car on front wheel ramps for about a month before i could fix a problem up front. After finishing the front end I took it out for a spin. My experience was exactly as you described. I got a couple hard stops and typical slow downs on the highway. The sound is completely gone now. I think it was rust and general unuse like others described.
