I am reading one now for a new to me car I just bought. PDF form only. Reading it on my computer.

This new car has bells and whistles my older ones do not. The only way I will ever learn how to make use of and adjust the features is to read the manual.

That’s silicone, not silicon. Silicon is a chemical element and a component in silicone.

He just said “service station” not “gas station.” Maybe he meant basic auto shops.

I don’t even need a station. I carry tire plugs and mini-compressors. I can do at least a temp repair right on the side of the road.

Dang I gave up on trying to reprogram the order of radio stations. Got a new battery, now display says no messages. I really don’t care that much. Had one manual for infotainment, and one for car. The one for car was great care on seat belts, thinking at least 30 pages. It stops, it goes got a gas gauge and idiot lights, who could ask for anything more? Why waste dash space for a tach when you have an automatic, but think a voltmeter or oil pressure gauge is unnecessary.

This was one of the top rated repair shops for decades up until Covid era, He either retired or moved to a bigger shop, but probably retired, he was there very long time…

There are a few full service stations with gas and repair bays near me. There are more gas stations with convenience stores though.

I can think of only one gas and repair service station near me. The gas (and quickie mart) and service are seperately owned and operated.

They’re still around here in NH - especially the rural areas.

I bought a new Oldsmobile Cutlass in 1978. Twenty two years later, the door hinge in the driver’s side door was worn, so the door sagged when it was open and was hard to close. I went to an independent body shop andd was told thst I would have to bring them a hinge. I went to a salvage yard and was told that they didn’t have anything in the yard that old. I tben went to the dealer where I bought the car 22 years esrlier. I was sent to the body shop. The woman who managed the shop said that my car was too old and the hinge was no longer available. I said, “I am really disappointed. When I bought the car in 1978, the salesman (I mamed the salesman who was long gone) assured me that parts and service would always be available”. I really wasn’t serious, but the woman managing the body shop seemed to take me seriously. She said. “We didn’t anticipate you driving the car 22 years and 220,000 miles, but I’ll see what I can do”. She went back into the shop and came back followed by a technician carrying a big drift pin, a sledge hammer, and a long open end wrench. He loosened the bolts holding the hinge, put the drift pin under the hinge a nd pounded on it with the sledge hammer. He then tightened the bolts holding the hinge to the body. The door opened and closed perfectly. “That’s wonderful”, I exclaimed. “How much do I owe you?”
“Not a thing”, the manager replied. “We guarantee these babies 25 years or 250,000 miles, whichever comes first”. She and the technician were laughing up a storm.

I posted this some years ago, but it’s a good one…

A guy bought a high-end SUV at a police auction and took it to the dealer to have it serviced, checked over, and fix the 6-way electric seat, which had a tendency to jam when adjusting…

The service manager called and told the guy; they found the problem with the seat, “his” pistol stored under the seat was getting caught in the mechanism and that he had to come to the service department to pick it up as they could not store a loaded gun.

He told them it was not his gun, he called the police who met the guy at the dealer’s service department and the police took possession of the gun.

The SUV had been a confiscated vehicle from a drug dealer and police inspection and “sanitation” of the vehicle was more concerned with stashed drugs. I guess the police thought “bad guys” only put guns in glove boxes…

Epilog to the story, the gun was found to have been used in past crimes but the news article did not elaborate…

Yep. I’ve done that too. Once on top of a mountain in New Mexico. Except I didn’t have a compressor. Pumped that sucker by hand with a bicycle pump. Fortunately not all the air escaped. But it would have by bottom of mountain.

I have only a hand pump. It takes 10 strokes to add a pound; I can stroke once per second. Works even when the battery’s dead.
