Engineers? Are you sure? Management makes decisions, engineers make recommendations. Tesla engineers _may_ have suggested this implementation, and then again, they _may not_ have. Management _decided_ to do it, no matter who _recommended_ it.

Yes, probably the reality is much more like that ☹

In my dev-shop, we prioritize dangerous problems above “features”, but even then, we have to stick to the schedule (more or less), so not everything gets done as engineers would want
