Outside temp reading on mirror reads OC on 2003 Impala.

Is there a sensor that can be replaced without to much trouble?

The sensors are typicaly not much expense or trouble but the “OC” error message rings a bell (albeit a dull ring) so have a look at the owners manual for an explaination of OC. I doubt it means “zero degrees celcius”.
