Subaru outback CVT

I think just shifting back into D or reset D by going to N and back to D or just call the service departmen may work but as yet, after mentioning several times, OP has yet to respond to that possible solution.

The paddles wdo let you down and upshift when in “D” as well as in Manual
however when yopu downshift to like “4” while in “D” it stubbornly stays in “4” even when you step on it after about 30 seconds it reverts back to "D"
example I’m coming down a hill and shift down to “4” it stays in “4” all the way to the bottom of the hill (good engine braking) then I want to merge into traffic on the bottom of the hill but when I step on it to merge with 65 M/H traffic it won’t move, it should go down to 3 or 2 but stays in 4 hence NO RPM’s No power
