I have a 1995 Toyota Camry (V6) that is in great condition (\>230,000 miles) except one problem. When I try to start the engine, it never starts at the first try. If I wait for about a minute, then try again - it starts. Sometimes it takes more than two tries. But it always starts after sometime.

What is the reason for this behavior? What should I do to fix it?

Does it do this even if it’s not been sitting long?
I’m thinking it’s possible that the fuel line is depressurizing, perhaps even the gas running back down away from the engine due to a leaky injector allowing air to get back into the line, and it takes a few tries for the fuel pump to pressurize and purge the system.

It’s also possible that it’s overdue for new plugs and ignition wires etc. When’s the last time it had a good tuneup?

I agree with mountainbike’s fuel pressure scenario. Try turning the key to ON, wait 5 seconds, then turn to START. If that helps, then it’s the fuel pressure. The check valve that holds pressure in the line is probably worn. Not unusual with this many miles.
