When I turn on my A/C I sometimes get cold air and I sometimes I don’t. The air temperature changes sporadically during a drive. A mechanic wants to replace my compressor for $1,000 but my friends tell me that a bad compressor won’t not work then work for a while. I’m told it could be a clutch issue that can be easily fixed.

Find a shop in your area that specializes in automotive AC systems. They’re the experts, and can correctly diagnose and repair your car’s AC problem.

At least get a second opinion before replacing the compressor.
