I’ve suddenly began having the emergency flashers come on and cannot turn them off. I’ve changed the battery, and it stopped for a while and has now started back. Any ideas as to why this could be happening and a solution? I’ve disconnected the battery in hopes of saving it. Thanks in advance for any help, Dan ---

In the event that the OP’s mechanic finds the BCM to be the source of the problem, there are used BCMs available on Ebay. Perhaps Mercedes dealerships will still order parts for Smart cars, but in the event that they won’t, at least it does seem to be possible to obtain used parts for these discontinued cars.
